Poster Abstract: Field trials were conducted throughout Pennsylvania to assess the production potential of winter and spring canola as a feedstock for biodiesel production. Both types of canola were found to produce well in adapted regions. Winter canola yielded well in southern and central PA, while spring canola lines yielded well in central and northern PA. Timely planting, seeding depth and harvest timing emerged as management issues that were most important for successful cultivation of these crops. As a result of these studies, several successful canola production enterprises have been developed. This research was made possible in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
